I am over 18 years old.
As a collector of vintage photos of men, I am excited by the opportunity that Flickr gives me to "publish" them to a wide audience. Quite frankly I've been amazed at the tremendous response I'm receiving. To say the least, I'm pleased.
Many ask me where I find these photos. I've been collecting them for quite some time, haunting antique shops, antique shows, and eBay auctions. If you're patient and dogged enough, it's amazing what you can find out there. My collection includes over 2,300 actual photos and about the same number of digital images that I've gotten from other collectors and downloaded off the web. I am now publishing books of my personal collection, which are available at blurb.com.

I also like using my camera but am selective in what I post. I greatly appreciate the warm reception many of them have received. Part of me hopes that some of them might make into someone's vintage collection a generation from now.
My other great love is a beagle, which my partner and I adopted from the local SPCA. He was turned in because he wouldn't hunt any more...fine with us...and has become a wonderful companion.
MESSAGE TO MY FRIENDS (sent on July 8, 2008):
After much thought (and no small amount of agonizing), I have decided to bring three years of sharing my vintage photo collection on Flickr to an end. The anxiety around when (unfortunately, not if) Flickr will delete my photostream is more than I want to deal with any longer.
Flickr's increasing focus on accounts that don't meet the requirement that all posted photos be ones you've taken yourself is what has finally driven me to this decision. Therefore, I will be removing all my vintage photos and leave only my personal pictures.
I'm very sad about this. I've posted over 5000 vintage images and your interest has resulted in an amazing 1,940,000 views of my photostream since July, 2005. Not only that, I have greatly enjoyed being an active, contributing part of a remarkable community of vintage male photo lovers. But I've always approached using Flickr with the understanding that it's their sandbox: play by their rules or else risk getting kicked out. Playing under the radar as I have for 3 years is finally getting to me. I just don't want to worry about it any more.
Hopefully a few of my Friends will stick around to occasionally check out my personal photography.
With warm regards and thanks,
dcwooten

Echoes of Eros says:
"This is a rare and extraordinary collection of photos guaranteed to provide hours of viewing pleasure, and to transport residents of the Twenty-First Century into a past world that was much more honest and open than anything we had imagined it could be. Whether you're just a curious passerby or a true devotee of vintage male photography, you'll be astonished at this collection.
As I indulged in these gems from the past, I found myself brimming with alternating feelings of absolute delight and abject frustration. I was delighted to see tangible proof that the dusty annals of history were not nearly as prudish, moral, or inhibited as I was previously led to believe. I was frustrated to realize that we modern day men are not nearly as liberated or free-spirited as we think we are.
In my humble opinion, I believe that the morals and manners of present-day men have rapidly regressed - to the point of supreme suppression. Despite gay liberation and supposed personal freedom of lifestyle and expression - we are prisoners of a drastically rigid (no pun intended) and uptight society. Any form of physical expression between men is considered completely taboo. I'm not only talking about gay men, but straight ones as well.
The intense expressions of affection and comradship depicted between the men in these photos is touching as well as amazing. There was a refreshing innocence and shamelessness and honesty that makes me desperately yearn for the past.
Many of the men in these photos were undoubtedly gay, some were unquestionably lovers. There are also, however, an impressive number of straight (or ALMOST straight) men who had no hangups about showing genuine physical affection for their buddies.
I hope others will find this photographic journey through the past as wonderful as I did. I especially hope we can all learn something from it.

"dcwooten has an astounding collection of candid vintage pics. Frat boys, athletes, military - it is like an aged version of my own collection - same subject minus 75 years or so! I see so many similarities to contemporary favorites. His collection serves as a reminder that homoerotica is agesless and began way before the web! I could not love this collection more - one of my all-time favorite Flickr collections."

There are many good sets, but none so well presented as yours. A big thank you for sharing them. I am sure you have many fans."

"I love the photos, i'm drawn to vintage photos and especially ones of men. There's a book i've seen called something like "affectionate men" ..vintage photos of men couples. Thanks for putting these up, I enjoy them, a sort of innocence in these, we just moved to portland from alaska, we will be putting up more photos of our alaskan adventures (lived there for 8 years..now in the city, quite an adjustment).
