Having only just picked up my camera again after 8 years, I have a renewed hunger for pursuing this incredible medium. I am hoping to get to grips with perfecting my landscape photography, which should help allow me to create some unusual representations of familiar locations in turn challenging the viewer's preconceptions of the area in question.

I studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1997-2001 where I specialised in Fine Art Photography under the leadership of some great tutors including Vaughan Judge and Thomas Joshua Cooper. They were truly inspirational figures, and I feel incredibly privileged to have been taught by them.

I moved from Glasgow to live on the beautiful island of Guernsey (Channel Islands) in late 2001, and here I remain. I am truly spoiled for subject matter, surrounded by stunning scenery in every direction.

In 2009 I decided that I just had to get back to my photography having taken 8 years off. How time flies! After experimenting with long exposure photography for several months I started to push the boundaries further each time I went out on my night shoots, finally introducing light to my images in the guise of 'light painting' or 'light graffiti'. This is by far the most expressive way I have ever encountered of using my photography to create work that has my own style injected into it. There are many other light painters out there, each with their own style and ways of doing things, several of which have really inspired me to press on with my photography after so many years away from it.

I now have a website that I update once a year, which houses some of my work:

...and of course, I LOVE FLICKR! My light paintings set can be accessed here:

I am very excitied about where this journey takes me in the coming years. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable ride so far, and I do not want it to stop any time soon.

Thanks for stopping by,
David
