Hi, thanks for your visit and interest in my photography. Me, well I'm an ecologist with Natural England, living in Devon with my wife (Tracey AG) and two daughters.

I’ve been interested in photography for as long as I can remember, principally as a means of recording my interest in natural history, particularly birds, invertebrates, plants and landscapes/habitats (especially uplands, heathlands, grasslands and the coast), and my travels (Europe and rest of the world) [click for quick links to my corresponding sets/collections]. My photostream is a bit of a chaotic mix of new and old so, if you're interested, it's probably best to look at my sets/collections.

I'm always very grateful to receive views and comments on my photos. If you do visit, I hope that you enjoy them, though please note that they are copyright. If you'd like to use them in any way please contact me by FlickrMail or email.

My first ‘real’ camera was a Zenith E, as a teenager in the mid-70s, followed by an Olympus OM10 (with a manual adaptor of course!). Most of the scanned images I’ve uploaded were taken with an OM2 and some of the more recent ones with a Canon EOS300. The latter were mostly scanned at the time of processing by the Fuji Processing Lab UK with, it has to be said, rather mixed results! The older ones are just a few of my collection that I got around to scanning for MS PowerPoint presentations for work. I have hundreds, no thousands, more slides to be brought back to life if I can work out a way, and the time, to scan them. Sorry if this sounds like a threat! [Ed. 08/07/07: just bought a Plustek OpticFilm 7200i film scanner so the only problem now is finding the time to scan!]

Buying an Olympus digital compact (C-5000 Zoom) in October 2004, together with a young photogenic family and then finding Flickr, rekindled my interest in photography and led to most of the more recent, admittedly mostly ‘point and shoot’, images I’ve uploaded. They're mostly more-or-less as taken except, in some cases, for some cropping and generally relatively minimal use of post-processing, though I'm begining to increase my interest and skills in this! Hoping to upgrade to a DSLR before too long… [Ed. 04/12/07: just bought a new Olympus E-510 DSLR (double zoom kit [Zuiko ED 14–42 mm and 40–150 mm] and now a Zuiko 35 mm macro) and have had great fun testing it out!]
