Happy Dave's photostream |
I'm 28, I'm Scottish and I live in Edinburgh, where I have recently moved after living in London for nearly six years. I like photographs. And I like people. Flickr is great for both.
I've recently massively reduced my contact numbers to make the whole thing more manageable, remove inactive accounts and focus on people I know and have met in person whose photography inspires me (plus cat photos from my family, of course). If I've de-contacted you, please don't be offended, this is simply a defensive move to make Flickr usable for me again.
It's also where I met my wife, so as you can imagine, I have a soft spot for the place. If you've found my pictures because you've read our story somewhere, feel free to stick around and have a look at a few of the pictures we've taken together, as well as the rest of them.
My camera has recently been resurrected, so I hope to be posting a great deal more. I've also gone back to a Pro account for the first time in over a year, so my archives should now all be accessible again. Enjoy.

Rocker Dude says:
"I'm new to testimonials but here goes. David is one the most awsome older brothers someone could ask for. He's the one who got me interested in photography and got me my own pro account on flickr and has managed to steer me away from the bad aspects of teenage life and
help to turn me into the Family Guy/Office Space/Truman Show/ IT crowd etc. watching teenager I am. He's always up for something new and I can't wait to see what he's been up to in London each time I sign into Flickr!
Cheers Bro. You are one awsome guy."2nd May, 2007

Princess Valium says:
"I first found Happy Dave in the "Everyone's Photos" blurb, and the photo was taken with a cameraphone...it was a snap of his little sister being eaten by a lego dinosaur. it made me laugh. We chatted. He gave me the gift of a pro account. After 6 months of MSN instant messaging, and chatting on the phone, he came to visit me.
I'm crazy about him.
He's a wonderful writer, and a thoughtful, compassionate, altruistic, amazing person, and I admire him, adore him, respect him, and fancy him something rotten.
I can't wait to be his wife."22nd December, 2006

"I've known virtual Dave for a lot longer than I ever actually knew the flesh and blood. In fact, I don't even really remember meeting him (I got drunk and fell asleep in my clothes). In any case, I've kept a close eye on him over the years, having always remembered seeing a lust for awe and adventure in him. Ask him a story about somewhere he's been, and there is no other moment when a man comes back full circle so close to the wonder-filled eyes of himself as a child. Under normal circumstances, living in London will suck that from your veins, but I see he has kept his eyes active through the lens. I hope his new camera does him justice. And as for meeting again, you can bloody bet on it! I've been to Aberdeen...when are you going to be in Vancouver? Well, I'm not there either, so don't go just yet!"

Plurp says:
"He tried to capture time, a moment, an instant, the second hand stopped, a glance at the ancient city through sepia eyes, a shard of consciousness split off from the others. He stood there, staring at it, his brow creased in frustration; the frame held only objects."

Olivia Leigh says:
"Happy Dave: successfully documenting the joys and downfalls of British life, making all of us former residents remember why we loved it so, while also taking photos of rural and urban American life, helping us remember what we should be thankful for. Great colours and compositions dominate his photostream. And if you need any more convincing, he's a cute Scotsman that likes the Chicago Cubs. How could you not enjoy?"
