FLICKR WALKABOUT


OK, before you spend time reading my profile, let me start this way. ~ If you want an honest appraisal, you've come to the right place!

I grew up in Chicopee/Ludlow MA, played hockey, baseball and golf (on the High School golf team). I joined the Marine Corps in 1965 and spent most of my enlistment in Quantico, VA doing intel stuff. When I got out a little early for college, I also bought a small farm and started a show and breeding kennel ~ Woodstock Kennels. My primary breeds were the German Shepherd Dog and Afghan Hound.

I first majored in Accounting but that wasn't for me. In 1975 I got my second degree in Nursing and practiced first as an RN in the Emergency Dept and then moved to Florida in 1979 for a Charge position in a surgical ICU. After a couple of years I took a position as a Nursing Supervisor then Cardiac ICU and finally Clinical Educator.

During most of those years I've had a terrific wife and 4 children that are now adult children with grandchildren. My wife and I use to run together although racing wasn't frequent for her. With our love of running and climbing, we moved to Oregon in 1995 so we would have plenty of Mountains to climb.

With the kennel long gone, a beautiful/loving Standard Poodle came into our lives in 1996 ~ Muffin. Here we are in 2012, Muffin is still with us and we have an additional member to our family ~ Cappy, a male Standard Poodle.

Photography, for me, started in the 50's with a hand-me-down Brownie box camera. I did mostly film in the 60's & 70's and then started with transparencies in the late 79's.

My first photo community was Photo.net in 2002 and then Flickr in 2007. I retired in the fall of 2010 and have been enjoying more leisure time on Flickr and with my family.

My Photographic Vision is to try and capture photos that are full of life. By that I mean an emotion, an upbeat/feel good emotion by the use of color, shapes and lighting.

Photographic Education ~ while living in Sarasota, FL I took several Photographic classes. Even though the courses pre-date digital, they offered a great foundation for my future.
