I was born in Brisbane and have lived here almost all of my life. My first foray into photography as a young lad was to borrow my mum's Kodak instamatic and take photographs of model sets I had built.

Eventually, my parents relented and bought me my very first Olympus compact camera as a graduation present when I finished high school. That little camera served me well for a number of years (and the one that replaced it) until I eventually bought my first digital camera. SLRs were still well out of my budget and my Fuji FinePix S5500 allowed me to move toward the semi-manual modes of photography. Finally, in 2007 (between mortgage payments) I was able to realise my dream of owning a DSLR.

What the heck is a Darvidanoar, you ask? Since sometime around 1995 I have travelled the net under the pseudonym Darvidanoar; a strange nickname given to me by a good friend. Unfortunately, regular people find it impossible to pronounce or remember. Anyway, when I decided it was time to launch my own website, I decided on something sumilar, but maybe easier to pronounce: DarvidArt
