" If you’re lucky you’ll connect with another photomaker who becomes an acquaintance. If you’re really really lucky you’ll connect with a photomaker who becomes a friend – even though only a cyber friend - a bud whose image making tweaks a nerve that makes vibes ring - whose images flow on a photo wavelength that few ever travel. I’m one of the really really lucky. I’ve connected with DarkWing – a photomaker - friend - aka Darin.
An Ansel Adams scenic tripod image – technically perfect and honed for hours in a darkroom - brings, “Oh that’s beautiful.”
A Henri Cartier-Besson 35mm Leica image brings, “Oh what an extraordinary street scene “snap-shot.”
An Avadon image brings, “Oh, that portrait is exceptional.”
Then one sees an image made by DarkWing - and the vibes and imagination soar beyond the image. His images aren’t “scenic calendar pictures” like Adams’, or Cartier-Bresson snap shots of everyday “people street scenes”, or Avadon portraits. DarkWing’s images can’t neatly be categorized. His images capture fleeting moments that are everywhere - live and still - that go unseen by the rest of us. His images capture the ordinary but actually unordinary that the rest of us never “see” – or feel - until he captures them for us.
When I look at a DarkWing photograph I have no simple conscious response – but instead the vibes and imagination come alive in the gut – as did his - and I know I’ve probably sensed the same vibes that ordered him to make the capture. And that is rare and exciting photography – for the maker and for the viewer.
DarkWing's images aren’t easily defined. The gut of the viewer defines them – at least for this lucky viewer. DarkWing has found a way to express what he feels inside when he “sees”. And he does it with extraordinary intuition, gut feeling and timing – his camera is always close and ready. He’s one very unique and special photomaker."6th October, 2005

"You just never know what you are going to SEE when you see one of Darin's photos. Sometimes you have to have a second or third look to catch every little thing. His photos are stunning, surprising and sometimes a bit twisted."
