Direct Action for Rights and Equality is membership organization whose mission is to organize low-income families in communities of color for social, economic and political justice. DARE operates on the belief that the path to justice and lasting social change is grassroots community organizing led and directed by our members and leaders.

In each effort DARE engages, we seek to win concrete solutions that will improve our community while also addressing the root causes of racism, sexism, classism and homophobia and the underlying systemic oppressions at the root of problems facing our community. DARE’s current work includes interrelated campaigns to fight for and win jobs, housing and people-centered development; to reduce incarceration and increase opportunities for those recently incarcerated; and to create quality educational opportunities for all students and a positive future for all youth.
