As a student I took pictures at events, which gave me free entrance and sometimes free drinks, and also I could sell some prints to cover the expenses. Not bad as a start.
When I got a digital P&S as a present, I was rather reluctant to switch, but, hey, now all seems so easy and inexpensive, you just click the shutter-button and here you go.
Added a DSLR a bit later, which I prefer to the P&S, because it's not as stubborn, when it comes to changing any settings, but also heavier on the downside.
Have become a flickr addict in the meantime (and an old-timer after so many years) and am always impressed by the variety and quality you might find by arbitrary browsing.
Happy about comments, especially critical ones.
