Creating images has always been like breathing for me. At one time I painted in an abstract expressionist style using watercolor as a medium. I also did figurative and
portraiture work in pencil as well as cartooning in pen. After working in information technology for many years I found that I had drifted far away from both my creative
side as well as what I had achieved technically. A mentor at the time suggested that I start my path back to the creative life with photography. I balked. Though I greatly
appreciate art photography I never felt it to be kindred to my particular creative vision. Nevertheless, I started playing with digital photography but I still didn't feel like it
suited me in and of itself. In my frustration I started toying with some digital pieces I had taken of stones and sand. Having been fascinated with fractal geometry for
some time I began to be fascinated with the patterns and shapes I could create. Soon, I found myself spending many hours each day finding new fractal forms within
my digital imagery and new software techniques that could be used to enhance such images. My creative self had been renewed. Through this process I have achieved
techniques to wed my digital photography with my love of fractal patterns. The result being very much like the medium of watercolor that I so love.
