Innamorata Crush's photostream |
my fave artists and diarists are here <3 <3 <3
I'm into drama, emotions, documenting my feelings and happening in my life. Taking photos that represent something more than just the image makes me happy. I also snap photos of whatever catches my eye whether it be composition, colour or a word.
I like to show what is real with me via photographic representations and I like little emotional fictions.
I believe in the idea that the act of creation is important in itself. Expression counts all on its own! Those with the lowest level of skill and expertise should make some stuff too. REPRESENT!
It isn’t what a picture is of, it is what it is about. - John Szarkowski.
Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide whether it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they're deciding make even more art. -Andy Warhol

"i wish i would have found her sooner! looking through her stream is a delight -- full of fantastic self portraits and visions of the world through her eyes, she truly gives meaning to the saying, "a picture says a thousand words". i love how colorful she is, and who wouldn't be able to appreciate an artist of both pen & light? lovely."

MMaeb says:
"Through her images and words, Lori manages to reveal the deepest parts of herself while somehow remaining intensely mysterious. She is at once challenging and charming, fierce and fragile, sexy and childlike. One of my favourite self-portraits of hers, "Imaginary Star," captures all of that magical complexity for me. This is a woman of substance. xo M ;)"

Bas Bleu says:
"Lori is exquisite. Her self portraits are inspiring, open, warm, honest, passionate, and filled with the grace of a woman comfortable with herself and her space in the universe. Everytime I view her stream, I am reminded of what I am striving for in this thing we call life."

"I don't think I know anyone who seems to be having more just plain fun posting on flickr than Lori. There is not a more fascinating, thought provoking, make-you-think, feel sad one second and lust the next set of photos anywhere. I feel like I get to know her and watch her grow, reading her stories and watching her explore photography. Thanks for the smile and gulps and gasps and fun!"

"Lori is a storyteller, in both words and images. She is not afraid to speak up for her beliefs and illustrates them wonderfully for us to devour as art. Are her photos full of passion? Yes. Are they full of beauty? Yes. Full of insight and sensitivity? Yes. To spend time in Lori’s photostream is to spend time with your thoughts and feelings as well. Keep it up, woman!"

I am so gald to have found you, I keep a little warm spot just for you. xx"19th April, 2007

Lady Vervaine says:
"There are maybe 3 or 4 photographers on Flickr whose work has changed my own – changed the way I see photography, and what it can do. Lori Blair is one of them.
She's a wonderfully sensitive photographer and model; but for me, what makes her unique is the way she combines images with words – especially in her photostories. Her narrative gifts are just astonishing. Sometimes her stories delight me, sometimes they disturb me – sometimes they do both at once – but they never, ever fail to amaze me. I first found them a year ago, and I still don't know anyone else (on Flickr or beyond) who can do quite the same thing.
Make no mistake: this is a real artist at work here, and she's inspired me more than I can say."4th April, 2007

Sandy Kelly. says:
"I am in awe of Lori! She is beautiful, talented, witty, funny, passionate, loving, angry (in a good way!),hard-headed,opinionated and so much more......but above all, she is a loving Mom and Wife! She has a way of opening her soul up for all to see, but still leaving bits and pieces hidden so you come back for more. Her photography is her, open and honest, and lets us see into her interesting journey of life! I think Lori is wonderful, and whenever I come visit, I KNOW be stuck amidst the photos and stories for a while! :O) What a super Flickr friend she is!"

"I've wanted to write a testimonial about Lori for a long time -- but am confounded about how to put my appreciation of her into words! This is saying a lot since I'm an intensely verbal person. This is the real deal in her stream - and I am so proud to be her friend."

"Her stuff is awe inspiring. My flickr stuff is just a bunch of pictures. She seems to truly bare some aspect of her soul through the fiction stories, the real life shots, her pride and joy, and the intensity and romanticism of it all.Lots of feminist work indeed. Honestly, I was disturbed. The way in which I was disturbed is a good way to be disturbed. The feeling I get is similar to that after watching The Vagina Monologues or The Passion of the Christ."

"Greetings to you... Let me introduce you to the fun filled and wildly creative world of dans la reine!! Lori consistently demonstrates that she has a wonderfully creative eye for captureing the fun things around us as well as the complex parts of our psyche.
Lori's fun filled beautiful face is the doorway to an artist with deep and complex ideas and concepts. What images that do not leave you smiling, will stimulate your mind or excite your senses. Be it her candids of others, her children or the thought provoking self protraits, you leave her images with a broader understanding of the complexities and joys of life around us.
Lori, a talented and extremely creative photographer!!!!!"26th February, 2007

"She is hands down one of the best photographers at Flickr. Her work ranges from funny to intriguing and no matter what, she has the tendency to create images that makes me think (stop that, it makes my brain hurt). I always catch myself staring at her images longer than I stare at other peoples pics."

With the correct intuition for color shape, space.
Lorís photos are a narrative about she´s own ,but also a portrayal of a dream, full of new ideas an invocation .

"Wild...... Tender..... Ironic..... Clever......
This woman can make you smile,
she can make you cry,
she can move you......
An incredible kaleidoscope of moods,
thoughts, faces, poetry, questions.
Her photostream is a universe where
her deep feminine essence shows
all its moods.
But more than this, here's the most
generous commenter in the whole Flickrdom.
Every word by her is a great gift,
a precious fruit born from her
wonderful feminine sensibility.
I love this great woman.
And i'm proud to be her friend.
Great great Lori..."23rd February, 2007

mychael alchemy says:
" Lori is the kind of woman I would want to know personally in real life. A true, natural beauty and personality to go with it...seemingly shy but just reserved...she is a real mother, very connected to her children and it shows in her photos...
There is much she reveals and still, much she holds back, but so adorably and adorable...I once made a comment about wanting to adopt her ,silly as that may be, the sentiment is real...
Lori is compelling to look upon, the sweetheart with a soul and the passion of a redhead that goes with it quite suitably...

Lori is developing her talent as a photographer, a self-potraitor and I love being able to witness it."18th November, 2006

"dans la reine is one of those unique people that has the gift of vision. She sees things that the unfortunates of us not blessed with this gift miss until pointed out.
Be it a simple animal, her children, or herself... She presents it in a manner that makes you just stare and go back later and stare some more.
Her self portraits are an amazing adventure... One playful, another smoldering with erotic sensuality, the next nurturing and maternal, and yet more showing a fanciful/whimisical side of her.
Lori is assuredly a beautiful, talented, classy, and friendly woman with an absolutely astounding ability to see and capture that which is before her... I always look forward to seeing what she has to present us with."3rd October, 2006

devifemme says:
"I've just caught up with Lori, after months of abjectly wandering far away through Flickrland, seeking out pretty girls who enjoy the fine and prospering field of self-portraiture. (Lori's been featured on my little blog dedicated to this quest, devifemme.livejournal.com/ -- sorry, L, this is YOUR party!!)
I'm especially charmed by her perseverence and devotion to craft, indeed incorporating her delightful kids and evolving lifestyle into her work, unpersuasively grumbling all the while ("free time is 4:30 a.m.").
Don't trifle with US, we know you love it...you do, you do!
And sometime please tell us why you're "in the queen." (I blush!)"27th September, 2006

"la reine is a real discovery. Their is a real freshness to her imagery and self portraits, and a great daring in showing both domestic and erotic kinds of intimacy. If you want to believe that you can be intelligent, erotic, a devoted mother and a talented photographer all in one life time take a look at her photos."

"it's easy to get long-winded when singing the praises of this young lady. Suffice it to say that "eroticism" "sensuality" and "feminity" should have her picture beside them in the dictionary - and it would still be PG-13."

Hermes 69 says:
"Lori, you have one of the most photographic / erotic / creative / imaginative minds on Flickr. Seeing your images is always a treat or a challenge (or both).
Your sensitivity for people and their feelings is commendable. The intensity with which you stare into the eyes of those that most of us can't even imagine is courageous. The depth of your understanding of the erotic nature of men and women is impressive and instructive. Please keep up your exploration.
You are doing many people a great service, helping us to consider things from new viewpoints that we never previously could have imagined. I see you as a brave explorer in the mysterious sea of sensuality."26th April, 2006
