for a minute,

It's a permeable capsule,
It's a string over time;
Fraying 'round the edges,
Rotting from the core --
And you thought for a moment
It was the one thing that was yours.
See it measured,
See it altered,
See it given a price.
Augment it with an instrument,
Cut it with a knife.
Sculpt it, paint it, peirce it,
Feel it tickled by a tongue
It is the archivist of scars
Ohh, when you were young...
The healing of a wound;
A war we can't remember;
A scar on my skin;
Ink upon the paper.
A word tossed in the air;
A persisting sting;
A mask you might remove
Could leave me wearing nothing.
