"Daniel Fox is pushing the limits of exploration in a much-respected initiative to teach us all about the fragility and beauty of our world. His Wild Image expedition, a respectful around-the-globe kayak adventure, is yielding dynamic and ravishing photography plus provocative insights about man’s need to live in harmony with the extraordinary bounty of nature.” William Tomicki, Senior Editor Traveler Overseas Magazine.
I was born in Quebec, Canada, and now reside in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have lived in New York, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Montreal, London, Portland and Cannes. Explorer, photographer and documentary maker, I follow in the footsteps of my childhood heros, David Attenborough and Jacques Cousteau, traveling Earth’s remote places. My lifelong passion for adventure and nature, and my commitment to inspire change and improving lives have led me to create The Wild Image Project, with for mission to motivate others and alter their perspective on global issues by aesthetically presenting information and ideas that stimulate engagement, involvement and transformation.
In 2010, I was made a new member in the Explorers Club and the Royal Geographic Society.
In 2009, I was named North American Champion by Aquapac. I am also a Planet Explore Visionary (a The North Face initiative that promotes the outdoors), a Kokatat Ambassador and a Wend Magazine Ambassador. My work is published through Wend Magazine, World Reviewer, and my adventures have been covered by several online media outlets.
In 2012, aboard a 30'meter long expedition sailing yacht, me and my team will embark on a 5-year around the world journey, to photograph and document Earth's remote places.
While my whereabouts are followed through Spot Adventures, my entries on Kontain are read by thousands of people and followed by the hundreds, through Twitter and Facebook.
I am supported by Planet Explore (the North Face), Kokatat, Wend Magazine, LaCie, Garmont, Spot Messenger, Werner Paddles, GoPro, Smart Wool, Osprey, MK, SOG, Klean Kanteen, NAU, Snap Dragon, Aquapac, Yakima, FoxFury, Northwater
About the Wild Image Project
The goal of the Wild Image Project is to raise awareness on the fragile and complex beauty of our planet and the necessity of living harmoniously with nature and preserving it for future generations.
“The Wild Image Project photos are both beautiful, and inspirational. They transport those who see them into the natural world, encouraging people to seek out an adventures of their own. Our goal with PlanetExplore is to serve as a portal to the outdoors that will provide the tools and resources necessary for people to embark on these adventures, while creating a connection to nature that is meaningful to them. Daniel’s stories and photos epitomize this connection, and we are truly honored to share his adventures with you on PlanetExplore.com” Brook Shinsky, Outdoor Participation Manager for The North Face
“As an art dealer I am always on the look out for a sense of urgency - a moral purpose even - in the paintings I examine. In Daniel's work I find these qualities in abundance. Each image of a natural event becomes a wonder through his lens; we are quietly but consistently reminded how fragile, how exquisitely precious, is our world. The choice of subject and viewpoint stops us in our tracks and sometimes absorbs us completely: The sky is brought up to our face, the eye of a horse reveals an endless distance. Daniel's message is hinted at through through an intense observation of his subject; but he is not didactic and the imagery is beautiful to behold. We just know it is our duty to love our world and to look after it.There is a deep conviction at work here. We are reminded now of a line of Wordsworth, now of a drawing by Ruskin or Turner. Daniel has a great gift with which to enthrall us.” Andrew Wyld, Managing Director, W.S. Fine Art, London
