"I think the first photo of David's that caught my eye was a picture of some gleaming toothbrushes, which is a little odd since he generally takes scuzzy pictures of scuzzy people. It's his desire to experiment with different cameras and film that I find most interesting.
What purists might call defects (light leaks, white balance issues) separate his work from standard portraits that are churned out by photographers with no ideas of their own. That's not to say David can't take a classic flattering portrait when the moment is right, because he can. But the energy and attitude of his subjects (often figures from the underground music scene) are the perfect foil for his experimental, guerilla-style shooting. This is a young photographer with a bright future."8th June, 2009
