daida L'orange's photostream  

When my first daughter was born, I wanted to capture every moment I could. At the time, I had only a point-and-shoot camera but recorded the moments nonetheless. When my second daughter was born, I still had a point-and-shoot (although not the same one) but didn't capture as many photos as I did with the first child. Now, with the third child having arrived on May 16th 2009, I finally have the chance to use my new DSLR that my dear husband bought me earlier this year. Since then, I have been capturing more moments of my children's lives than ever in order for them and us to look back one day and see what was happening at a specific moment in time.

The camera is an invaluable tool, regardless if you have a P&S or a fancy DSLR. If you can learn to creatively capture those precious moments, you can look back one day when the children are all grown up and cherish the time you had with them growing up. I am very fortunate to have the ability to stay at home with my children and husband (he works from home). This opportunity is truly amazing and not one that everyone is fortunate enough to have.

I plan on making many more photos of my family as the time progresses and posting a glimpse of them on my page. As I read more and learn more about the art of photography, I am inspired to try new techniques and ways of shooting that I was unable to achieve with a P&S. It is a constant challenge and something I look forward to every day. The photos on this site are a great source of inspiration, as there are many talented individuals out there. I hope to be able to add to this.

Since the birth of my son in May 2009, I have embarked on the endeavor of finally opening my store selling hand knit newborn photography props. I wanted to have a unique look in my photos and as such, I have chosen to work with handspun yarns exclusively - something I believe gives newborn photographers that extra something - a unique look. All of the props on my photostream are ones that I've made.
