I've enjoyed looking at photographs since I was a kid. I even liked the feel of a camera in my hand; I've had several over the years. But honestly, I made bad snaps. Blurred figures, too small in frame, faces in shadow or sun-glare grimaces. Every attempt at a landscape produced a bland background without a subject.

I did some technical shooting and printing as part of my Zoology degree, but otherwise my photos were mostly boozy party snaps. I started work, writing and directing TV. You'd think my photography might get stronger, it didn't. Taking publicity stills for documentary shoots became a dreaded chore.

In 2004 I became a father and bought a Fuji Finepix S5600. Having a subject close to my heart made me take a lot more pictures and I slowly began to enjoy it. By accident I even made some pictures I even thought were okay.

So in November 2008, I bought a Canon 450D and committed myself to learning the art and craft of digital photography. Now making pictures thrills me. My wife says I'm obsessed. I've added photography to my list of freelance activities and am open for business at c2media.tv and clivecopemanphotography,. Since then, I've added an EOS 7D and 5DMkii and a bunch of lenses to my kit bag.
