By day, I work in IT doing anything from basic user support to establishing new servers and systems to programming solutions to nonsensical problems. I’ve been working in IT to various degrees since I was young – starting first with the C64, and later getting pulled out of class to pull Ethernet through the schools and setup labs and work on websites. While not everything I’ve done in my career has been enjoyable (notably those 4am phone calls when something terrible has happened), those times where a project that I’ve been babying for weeks or months comes to completion and success have simply made it all just a dream. I love learning more, and ultimately I do not believe that I’ll have the chance to ever learn all there is to know – but that will not stop me from trying.

After working hours though, I am much more an artist. I used to draw and paint and got rather well known for it some years back. These days I am far more into photography and leatherwork. In particular, with photography I find myself continually traveling to areas in Canada that are less common to many, trying my best to be at the right place at the right time. As for leatherwork, I’ve always found it very interesting – creating something useful that is both strong and beautiful. I am still progressing and learning how to get things done with leather, but it has really been an interesting pastime.
