Mark Czerniec, 1974

We had a darkroom in our school and I learned to develop black and white film and make prints in the sixth grade. I loved it, but I didn't pursue it seriously.

I have spent most of my adult life working in radio, but I bought a Nikon Coolpix 700 in 1999 for some Web design jobs I was doing. Suddenly there was no extra cost for taking 97 shots of something instead of just two. It was an open opportunity to experiment and improve, and I started bringing my camera with me more often.

Since then, I have acquired a Nikon Coolpix 5700 as a gift from a generous boss, and also my current everyday camera, a Canon PowerShot A570IS.

I joined Flickr in July 2005 in order to share a load of photos I was taking, for practice, at Superweek, International Cycling's annual 'Tour de Wisconsin'. It seemed like a handy way for the riders to be able to find shots of themselves and each other.

I have spent many very enjoyable hours looking at your photos here, and uploading a few more of my own from the past few years.

You guys are really amazing. Thanks for sharing all of these images, and for allowing me to travel and learn and see though your eyes.
