In January 2011 I published my first book that is comprised of entirely my photographs. It was a fun experience and I now have ideas for future books. This was followed later in the month by a second book. This book was made as a present for a good friend who is moving from Arizona to Maine. I used to have links to preview the books, but they take up too much room. If you would like to see them just let me know & I will send you a link.

Photography is one of my two favorite hobbies (cycling is the other). In September '07 I got a new Rebel XTi dSLR. Since then I have been having fun playing around with it and experimenting a bit with software. I have downloaded a free HDR program (FDRTools) and also use Photoshop Elements 9, Corel Paint Shop Pro X3, and occasionally Protrait Professional (I am not big on digital plastic surgery, but sometimes a tweek is okay). I have also had an increasing interest in photographing people. I still prefer capturing people going about their daily lives, or if posed, looking like it is not posed.

I am looking to improve my skills as a photographer. I invite you to look at my photographs and tell me what you like, what you do not like, and how I can improve my photographs. THANKS!

As of January 2008 we became residents of Arizona (Laveen, a part of the city of Phoenix). Arizona will be the 10th state that I have lived in (I have visited 49 of the 50 - still have South Dakota). I am enjoying the photographic opportunities. Other places I have lived include: Cary, NC; Florence, KY; Cincinnati, OH; Northern Virginia (Washington DC); East Lansing, MI (grad school); California (grew up in Walnut Creek and went to undergrad in Arcata); Memphis, TN; and I was born in St. Louis, MO (I know, way more information than you care about).

In addition to photography, I love road cycling, cooking (and eating), good beer, wine, margaritas, and good Kentucky bourbon.

"This testimonial is long overdue but I am glad I am taking the time now to tell you what a wonderful person and photographer Doug is.
Doug stream is very varied...he is a wonderful nature photographer, but also loves to share in his adventures and explorations. Doug also likes portrait work and has done some very wonderful and tasteful portrait work. It seems like Doug always has his camera available...wish I could say the same. In addition, Doug, has been a wonderful Flickr Friend always there to share and to enjoy the mutual love of photography, and the desert. Thank you Doug, it has been my pleasure to call you a Flickr friend."
