Started photography in 1977 when I took a semester of photo lab in high school. I borrowed cameras for years, until I bought my trusty Pentax K-1000 in about 1984. It was a total trooper for over 20 years, going on hundreds of caving & camping trips, but it was showing its age with random light leaks and an annoying tendency to leave scratches in every 2nd or 3rd negative, so I made the digital leap in June of '07 and picked up a Nikon D50. Unfortunately, I had to sell the ol' Pentax along with three lenses in order to afford the D50, and I miss my 1:1 macro badly, now. My wife still has a good Nikon 35mm, and I dust off the Zeiss Ikon that I inherited from my uncle Jack now and again. It's an amazing camera for a consumer-level rangefinder. I've found that it just loves black and white film.
All my pictures are taken strictly for the love of the art, or to capture a moment. I'm totally a self-taught hobbyist, other than that one semester.
