Welcome aboard!
The name comes from a favorite pasttime that led to development of a website by the same name. CruisingTheICW connects coastal and Intracoastal destinations, marinas, restaurants, and people from Key West to the Canadian border. Needless to say, my Flickr "favorites" are related to boats and yachts; Eastern coastal places and scenes; and families and friends enjoying life on the water.
When cruising, I am accompanied by my wife, Carolyn, and our English Springer/Labrador Retriever, Kippa. Kippa "rescued" us after Vic, the old Lab we had rescued, had to be put to sleep due to cancer. Vic survived one operation, stayed with us for another year, but 2 weeks short of his 16th birthday, we knew the time had come. Our wonderful vet came to our home - on his day off - and put the old guy to sleep very peacefully on his bed. He was an incredible old boy, whose story, "A Second Chance," was told in a May 1997 issue of the International Labrador Digest.
When not on the water or working, Carolyn and I enjoy every precious moment spent with our children and grandchildren, Tanner and Keenan. In the months to come, they will be teaming up with Kippa in a blog for children, about safety on the water.
We cruise aboard SunSmiles, an old restored 30' Cargile Cutter Cruiser. With "her" unusual design, Fighting Lady yellow hull, white decks and red canvas, SunSmiles is hard to miss on the water. If you see her; take a pic and send it to us. It will be much appreciated.
When on the water, we monitor VHF channel 16, so If you see us, please say hello.
