Creekside Artists is a not-for-profit co-operative providing affordable studio space for artists working in all disciplines. Our inclusive ethos has led to the development of Creekside Artists as a unique place in which to work, with the diversity of creative practices and approaches ensuring an exciting and dynamic environment.

Creekside Artists was established in 2000. The group converted an empty industrial unit within Faircharm Trading Estate into 12 separate yet communal workspaces, housing up to 24 artists. The open-plan layout helps to promote discussion and encourages a constant exchange of ideas between artists and their work. The communal areas also provide free exhibition space for our artists. Studio members all volunteer their time and efforts to keep the studios running.

Open Studio events are held 3 times a year (June / September / December), giving members of the public an opportunity to meet the artists and designers and explore their working studios. Our ‘Creek Boutique’ showcases work for sale, including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, jewellery, T-shirts, shopping bags and greetings cards. Our evening private views feature live music and performances in the studios, with drinks served at our in-house bar ‘The Queen Creek’.

This year we have organised several events and group shows outside the studios – Creekside Artists exhibited at The Menier Gallery earlier this year and are booked for a show in February at the Limelight Gallery. The group recently collaborated on a week-long drawing marathon at The Albany, which was selected for the Deptford X programme, featured in the South London Press and filmed for BBC world service as part of their international news coverage of the Big Draw.

The studios are a short walk from Deptford Bridge DLR, Deptford and New Cross stations – less than 10 minutes by train from London Bridge or Waterloo East. Creekside is very creative with several other artist communities based along the same road, including Cockpit Arts, Cor Blimey Arts, Frameworks Art Hub, APT gallery and the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Creekside Artists is a member of the ‘Deptford Art Map’, a local network of art galleries and artist studios.
