I'm an ecologist specializing in urban bird ecology, with a keen interest in entomology, as well. All my macro shots are of unrestrained insects (except where you actually see my hand!) taken without a tripod, typically with a Canon Digital Rebel XT and a 105 mm macro lens.

People often ask which books I recommend for identifying dragonflies and other insects. Here are some I recommend:

-- Insects: Their Natural History and Diversity
-- Dragonflies of the North Woods
-- Damselflies of the North Woods
-- Dragonflies And Damselflies of Georgia And the Southeast
-- Dragonflies and Damselflies of Texas and the South-Central States
-- Damselflies of the Northeast
-- Damselflies of Alberta: Flying Neon Toothpicks in the Grass

    Stylurus says:

"She's funny, witty, loving, and a genius!
As a neighbor once said, "(she) sure is short for such a commanding woman and a towering intellect"."
