I love food. I love to eat. I love to talk about what I eat. In one way or another my life always revolves around food.

I am always at the borderline of two cultures, the American and Chinese halves of myself. This dichotomy has become a consuming interest. In my work I am investigating my own take on what it is to be American through my own experience and familiarity with food. There are lots of rituals and automatic behaviors influenced by taste- culture, preference, history, and memory. What we choose to eat is another way we identify ourselves. My work is more than a mish mash of Chinese and English, in a way it’s become a response to my own broken English, to growing up in Boston, and to everyone for feeding me.
