I camera things.
Woah.
I just used 'camera' as a verb.

I’m Colin, an awkward, skinny, 19-year-old from Florida, USA. I sporadically take pictures, I constantly listen to music, and I occasionally wear cool things. I don’t know what I want to do with my life, but I like the way I live. The internet is my hobby, my passion, and my home, and the people I’ve met through it are my family. I love jellyfish.

FYI:
I don't post to groups, so don't bother inviting me. It'll save us both some time.
Speaking of time, I really don't have much; don't be insulted if I don't respond to flickrmail.

It seems as though you really feel something through his photos, an emotion that is hard to capture yet right there in all of his photos. I love the way I feel relaxed, saddened, and overjoyed when I look at his photos, it's really a cool feeling. I would love to get to know him better, for his photos are secretive as well."

"ok so my last testimonial was crap, to put it simply. i need to make it way better because your work deserves such more credit than my last testimonial.

firstly , Colin is one of the nicest people on flickr, as well as on tumblr.
secondly, his work is mind blowing. every photo of his is amazing and his photostream contains a lot of pieces that are indoors, that, in a sense, anyone could do since they are no studios, just normal living environments. yet, his photos have something that many people, including myself, wish they could do; interestingness. (is that a word? im not really sure, but his photos are always so interesting). Colin is able to have such great depth of field and get focal areas that adds so much mystery to his photos. it was quite remarkable to view from one photo to another how creative he gets.
thirdly, not only are his indoors photos amazing, but his outdoors one as well. they capture such beautiful settings with the perfect lighting. he is remarkable in the way that he uses his surrounding to make such a great photo.
fourthly, his post processing skills are remarkable. i wish i could edit photos that well because his tones are always so perfect with each photo. im sure a whole lot of photographers wish they could post process that way Colin does because the way Colin is able to use colors and tones is quite genius.
fifthly, Colin has titles on his photos. for that i must give a whole lot of respect for. on flickr, i am way too lazy to think of something witty, mysterious, and thoughtful for my titles so i usually leave them untitled. on deviantart, however, i am forced to create titles for everything i upload and i must admit, my titles are completely lame and horrible because i can never get creative with titles. Nonetheless, Colin's titles have a lot of mystery and feeling to them. it makes me think about why he chose to put such a title up for a photo and it creates so much mood and emotion for the photo. it is really a talent to have to make titles that make people think and wonder.

seriously, keep it up Colin. :) never put your camera down"

"Colin is brilliant. Short, and simple. His photos carry such casualness and ease that I wish my photos could convey. Taking phenomenal pictures seems to come easy for him, and I look up his stream regularly to gain inspiration. He uses lighting in such magical ways...
Talk to him, and you will find him to be really chill. He listens to great music, has great style, and is just really a nice guy! Suffering my insomnia seems to be a characteristic we share.

Colin, thank you for sharing your work. Looking at them always helps me find the strength to capture a good shot!"

"it was only just a little while ago that i discovered the wonders of colin's stream! i kept noticing comments here and there from him. so i figured why not check out his work. i was immediately blown away (as i'm sure most of us are). and as i recognized his brilliance, i had to tell him so. he then revealed that he is such a kind hearted fellow too. it's nice getting a message from him, from time to time. he's really one of the greats. his skill appears to come so naturally and so casually--and honestly, that may be my favourite part of his work. well, that and his winning skinnyness :) bahah. but really, colin, i'm serious that you inspire me so much since i've found you. thank you so much and keep up the great work."

"I thought it was time to write him one of these.

Colin is one of the very first contacts I added on Flickr (second, actually), and ever since I added him 3 months ago, I've constantly been amazed by his photography skills. His photographs are just perfect! Colin is extremely creative and 100% original. When I can't think of what to do for my 365, I always visit his photostream to find inspiration and even motivation from his unique concepts, ideas and perspectives. The massive improvement he has made since his 365 is unbelievable and he deserves every bit of success and recognition he's getting for his photos. He is one of my most favorite flickrers and thought he should know that. (: His awkwardness just makes him who he is.

Kudos to Colin, he is brilliant. (:"

    sunshine doll says:

"Traversing through the sunny, swampy land of Florida, I stopped at a house one day to ask for some gas (unfortunately, there was not a gas station in sight, and I was desperate). I walked up cautiously to the door of the front home and knocked lightly on it, hoping somebody would answer.

Someone did answer, and I felt my heart beat slightly more quickly as I stared at the boy in the doorway. He had slightly shaggy brown hair, full lips, and deep penetrating eyes. He was wearing a purple shirt decorated with three penguins, and a pair of aviators was threaded in his hair. He was tall and lanky; he took up much of the doorframe, and there was an immediate contrast as he looked down at me.

I gulped. “Is it okay if I borrow some gas?”

“Yeah, sure,” he said, with a smile. Then he looked at me again, “Wait, where are you going?”

“I have no idea,” I said hesitantly. “I’ve never been to Florida and I’m just drifting aimlessly around.”

“Well I have an idea,” he proposed. “How about you and I go on a trip then, and see what there is to do? There’s nothing in Florida, I swear.”

“Alright,” I agreed hesitantly, looking at this stranger. I didn’t even know his name.

As if sensing my anxiety, he tried to relieve my fears. “I’m Colin. And we are going to have a GREAT time.”

Maybe it was a combination of naïveté and stupidity or simply blind trust—who knows?—but I believed him. So instead of getting gas, I climbed into his car, and we went off.

Colin Hill thought it would be a good idea to stop in every state across the USA. In Missouri, we tackled the St. Louis Arch, and Colin almost killed us both by jumping frantically up and down in the arch, making it sway, and causing us to be kicked out. In Wisconsin, it was his brilliant idea to climb on the roof of a market to pet the cows had been placed on top of the building (we got kicked out of there too). In Nebraska, we went cow-tipping; in Las Vegas, we joined the Cirque du Soleil crew; in Louisiana, he (I refused) ate gumbo fused with only habanero peppers; in Oregon, we caught garter snakes; in Arizona, we attempted the Grand Canyon without any sort of guide or map.

Eventually we had hit all fifty states and I had learned that Colin was insane—launching himself fully into any sort of endeavor he wanted, and risking his life for art. He was an artist, an adventurer, an explorer in every aspect of life. As we went, he took pictures, tens of thousands of pictures in order to capture every moment, his eyes always excited and laughing, ready for the next adventure.

Once we finished the USA though, Colin wasn’t done. He wanted to go other places. We went to Europe and added to the graffiti on the Eiffel Tower. We scaled the massive Buddha in Hong Kong. We carried huge carpets in Morocco. And then we headed to Colin’s love: Japan, and he took me to the beach. We spent a day there, gathering jellyfish up into a plastic bucket to take quick Polaroid pictures, and then tossing the animals back into the sea (another challenge to death, as these jellyfish were nasty buggers).

After this day, we collapsed on the sand and watched as the waves slowly spread up. I glanced over at him.

“Why do you constantly risk your life? You could die doing some of these crazy things, you know.”

He bit his lip and looked over at me. “I know.”

    “Then… why?”

“Because I’m crazy,” he smirked. “And, well, if you never do it, you never know. Life is to live, and if you’re not living on the edge, there’s no point.”

After he spoke, we sat and didn’t say anything. I let the waves crash on the beach, as I thought of what Colin had said. I saw Colin as a mountaineer, climbing up Mount Everest; as a scuba diver, diving down to the undiscovered depths of the ocean; an astronaut, who traveled up into space.

“You know what’s best about it, though?” Colin asked suddenly. “About living your life this way?”

    “What?” I asked.

“Finding somebody as crazy enough to go along with you,” he answered smugly.

I smacked him. He told me that tomorrow we were going to go climb a volcano and play with lava. I didn’t even know that that was possible.

But apparently with Colin, anything was."
