Photography has been in my blood since 1976 when on nothing more than a whim I chose photography as my military vocation from a recruiting pamphlet. Navy Photographer. It had such a nice ring to it.

I joined the U.S. Navy after high school in the summer of 1977 and afterward attended and graduated from the United States Naval School of Photography at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. Upon graduation I served at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA and in Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 14 (HM-14) out of NAS Norfolk, VA. While serving with HM-14 I was attached to Tactical Air Wing Six on board the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CVN-69.

While in the Navy my photographic area of expertise was more in the darkroom than behind the camera. In January, 1980 I was awarded my command's "Sailor of the Month" award and in April, 1980 I was additionally awarded my command's honor as "Sailor of the Quarter". It was while serving my Navy enlistment that I was able to do something most unusual and for which I'm still proud to this day - I was afforded the opportunity to circumnavigate the globe. By the way, it takes about 66 flight hours to fly around the world!

Upon completion of my military obligation I dabbled in photography as a hobby and took the odd part-time job here and there working in one hour and mass production labs doing film processing, enlargements and later film to VHS video transfers.

These days photography is a hobby to me and a grand one it is too! When things don't go my way or I've had a bad day or week I enjoy picking up my camera and going shoot. Doesn't matter where I shoot just go shoot.

Time behind a camera was and remains just good medicine for whatever ails me.

My other interests include sports, health & fitness, gardening, stamp collecting and history.

I'm married to a wonderful bride who enthusiastically allows me to be me. I have six children ranging in age from 34 down to 16 - three sons, three daughters. I also have three shockingly smart grandchildren, a couple of cats and grass that forever seems to need cutting.

If you live in south or southeast Louisiana or south or southwest Mississippi add me to your contacts list - I'm an avid photowalker and never mind company on a walk - just be prepared to get dirty, do some trespassing and get some great shots no one else is grabbing!
