First elected ten years ago, Stan’s effectiveness bringing jobs and economic growth to Isle of Wight County has led him to hold the position of Chairman of the Board for two one year terms.
While Stan was practicing law, he served on the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, the Metro Planning Organization, the Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facilities Alliance, the Western Tidewater Regional Jail Board and the Suffolk YMCA Board. It is in these organizations and on the Isle of Wight Board of Supervisors where Stan employs principals of strong fiscal conservatism.
Stan is always looking to cut spending and allow the government to function more effectively. Stan diligently promotes a healthy and robust economy allowing for more job creation, lasting transportation solutions, and environmental promotion and protection.
Stan graduated from Christopher Newport College in 1977 with a B.S. in Government Administration with a specialty in Law Enforcement. Upon graduation, Stan served his community as a police patrolman, sergeant and lieutenant. Stan earned his law degree in 1982 from George Mason University where he was president of the Student Bar Association.
Stan served as a prosecutor for the city of Portsmouth. Stan’s tough on crime approach helped him successfully prosecute all crimes especially welfare fraud. After serving the citizens effectively as a prosecutor, Stan practiced civil law from 1985 forward.
