Hello, my name is Claire. Although I do enjoy taking photos, I have little experience and skill. Hopefully, the community here on Flickr can help me become better, at least as an amateur photographer.

I enjoy a great variety of things. My favorite things to do are to read, write, surf the web, practice guitar, and listen to music. My favorite color is black. My favorite bands are Star Industry, the Sisters of Mercy, Paralysed Age, Rosetta Stone, Bauhaus, Eat Your Makeup, 45 Grave, Faith and the Muse, Scary Bitches, etc. I enjoy horror-related things and I most appreciate the "Gothic" style associated with the Goth subculture in comparison to that of other groups and subcultures.

Because of my appreciation for such things and my general "scariness" factor, many people consider me to be "emo," and as my username indicates, I despise this assumption. I do not understand "emo" in the least bit; why would one want to be sad all the time? My personal philosophy is that life centers around perspective, and thus, the world is not a soulless black abyss of pain and misery unless one considers it as such.

Well, I suppose this does a fairly adequate job of describing who I am. I take mainly landscape photos, though I also take many miscellaneous photos for my school newspaper; I am a copy editor, and I enjoy being an editor and working on the newspaper.
