I have always liked taking pictures although I never really had a good camera. In late 2008 I decided to purchase a Canon Rebel. It is a very nice camera and does so much more than I will probably ever be able to do with it.

I began my photostream when I first discovered Flickr trying to take "artsy" pictures. I tried learning all of the techniques to become a better photographer. I would spend many minutes just trying to frame a shot the best way possible.

I soon discovered that just as before I got this fancy camera, really I just liked taking pictures. So I sold my Rebel and downsized to a point ans shoot. I now use a Canon PowerShot A3000 IS. Just taking the pictures for me is the fun part.

I began to take some pictures of some old buildings in my area. This got me to thinking that maybe I should take pictures to document these old buildings before they vanish.

When I was a kid growing up in the early seventies the retail world was booming and I began to take an interest in finding and documenting some of the old retail chains that I remembered as a youngster. Some are still around and have been remodeled, others are there but with a new business.

I started looking at some other Flickr members that have great knowledge of retail history. I became really inspired to document as many of these old stores as I could.

So for now I will take some pictures.
