ABOUT THE ARTIST

The Brazilian artist Aparecida Helena Annoni Garcia, known by her artistic name of Cida Garcia or C. Garcia, was born in Machado, in the south of the state of Minas Gerais.
She has exhibited her work in several European countries and has founded projects of an artistic and social nature in her native Brazil in order to help communities and people in need.
As a guest artist, C. Garcia is part of the important international project “Projeto Arte Solidária”, Art Solidarity, br.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6yz-eUUtvw&feature=relatedwhich is based in the Brazilian city of Florianopolis and involves a great number of people who are committed to building a better future ; br.youtube.com/watch?v=VZzeEHoZxCI
She has also taught in the workshop of the Moreira Salles Institute (IMS), a non-profit making organisation founded in 1990 that is dedicated to preserving and making known Brazilian culture through projects in the areas of photography, literature, cinema, music and visual arts.
In her home town of Machado, she is Artistic and Cultural Patrimony Advisor to the town, making her work part of its private collection as well as that of the Brazilian National Congress.

Cida Garcia’s painting is determined, sensual and chromatically impressive. Oscillating between unthinkable gestures and the need for occasional containment, it shows a modernity that mirrors the painter in the exact dimension of seeking strength. Its calligraphy is personal but, nevertheless, it still imposes itself in the context of great contemporary trends. The light and colour take us to an exalted tropicality that lacks neither poetry nor the will to affirm.

Na flor no grão de areia no humano
No Infinito...
Renasces sempre na cósmica energia
Das auroras que aprofundas
No teu danado ver
Que o Divino tem formas e cores.
O teu pincel desvenda...
Desvenda-te na tua vivência-vidência
De profunda entropia na tua Arte
Na Beleza no Amor na Dádiva!
E na tua "sede de infinito"
