Chiron is a 1982 Achilles 7 Metre, sail number A 7 005.
I didn't even know they existed until I was looking for my own boat, as my family had moved to the Isle of Man with the Golden Shamrock half tonner I usually sailed.
I bought her early in 2002 in Plymouth, then got a custom built trailer from Hayling Trailers (excellent) and towed her north to Fife in Scotland. The first night sleeping aboard was in a layby off the old A6 just North of the border with heavy snowfall overnight. That made the morning deck slide interesting!
I raced her for the 2002 season out of Burntisland on the River Forth, nearly winning Port Edgar's Carl Dyson Regatta, but coming 3rd as the wind increased and with only 2 we didn't have the weight for upwind.
She then lay ashore until October 2003, as I emmigrated to the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean, then I went home and towed her to Southampton for shipping.
Now we enjoy mostly cruising in the islands, with the occassional race thrown in.
Just picked up a 2 season old spinnaker from an IC24, (modified J24) good condition, but with a sponsorship logo. Sponsorship changed, hence a spare spinnaker up for grabs.
New Raymarine ST40 instruments are fitted and the new Tohatsu Sail-pro ultra long shaft outboard is aboard. Very impressed with both.
Chiron should be somewhere mid Atlantic as I type (5/6/11) on her way back to Scotland in a container. I removed the rudder and keel to get her down to the required height for shipping.
