Support Authentic Cherokee Art - ask for the Artist's Tribal registration number before you buy!! Cherokee Style, Cherokee Heritage and Cherokee Descent all mean non Indian! If they have no Tribal Number or Tribal Certification- they are not Indian under the Indian Arts and Craft Act.

There are only three federally recognized Cherokee Tribes, Oklahoma, North Carolina and the UKB in Oklahoma

The Smithsonian does not verify Tribal Registration when they give grants to Native Artists - they recently awarded their Native Artists grant to a person who can not even prove she is Cherokee!!
