In 1999 I retired from 'The Bomb Factory', the Y-12 nuclear weapons complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the only manufacturing plant I know where the employees pray that nobody will ever again use our product.

I have been boring people with my photos since I got my first six-dollar box camera in 1958. I got my first SLR, a Pentax, for Christmas in 1968, and an Olympus OM-1 and OM-4T in the 1980s. Just as the proverbial blind hog finds an acorn now and then, I have produced a good photo or two down through the years.

My first digital SLR was a Nikon D40 with an 18 - 55 mm lens and a 55 - 200 mm lens but right now I'm using a Nikon 1 J1 mirrorless SLR with a 10 - 30 mm lens. There is also a 30 - 110 mm lens on my wish list. I occasionally use a Nikon S630 when I need to carry something smaller. My photos tend to be more documentary than artistic.

In 2006, I began publishing the Cheneworth Gap Times-Picayune and World Observer, an online newsletter for the completely fictitious Cheneworth Gap Retirement Home in Cheneworth Gap, Knox County, Tennessee.

In the spring of 2010, a friend asked me to develop and maintain a web site for the Campbell County Children's Center in nearby LaFollette, Tennessee. Working with these fine folks has been a richly rewarding experience for me. Please visit their site.

I also write a site for my dear friends Val Owens and Lanny Green. They have a wonderful little band called Heart & Soul. You will see several photos of them in my stream and the web site features videos taken at various venues where we have entertained.

I live with my best friend and frequent photographic target, Lulu the Rottweiler.

I lost my first two Rotties to the disease that kills so many of them. My little boy Gino died of cancer in November, 2009, two days after his eighth birthday. His sister Heidi had been taken eighteen months earlier.

In December, '09, Lulu came to live with me. She's my third Rottweiler, my first rescue, and a wonderful little girl. You will find that most of my Flickr friends and contacts are Rottweiler lovers. We have discovered the magic of living with this wonderful breed.

We don't belong to many groups. We avoid those that require awarding or commenting on so many photos for each added.

Through the loss of its founding administrator, we recently inherited Rottweilers Rule. If you love the breed, please visit and leave a comment or two.
