China Chas. Get yours at flagrantdisregard.com/flickr

I'm British but have been in Beijing for over three four years. Think I'll be here a while longer but enjoying the ride anyway...

Since getting a digital camera, I've started taking waaay too many photos: see what you think of the ones that I've uploaded. The older ones are taken with a Sony DSC-P8, but I bought myself a Canon 350D a while back and now seem to spend almost all of my free time behind the viewfinder or in front of the computer...

I like taking a wide range of shots from street photography to landscapes, tourist snapshots to photos with a story behind them, or just scenes that are just crying out for a wider audience. And there are thousands of photo opportunities in China.

I have absolutely no qualms about limited cropping, straightening and generally messing about in Photoshop - though I'm of course more satisfied when I can upload a photo without altering it in any way!

Please do not use my photographs without permission. If you would like to use an image for any reason, please ask (PM please, rather than by commenting) and I'll be happy to discuss. The day job keeps me pretty busy so don't be offended if you don't get a reply straight away.

    Dutch Tom says:

"Covering just about everything from close-ups of Bono to speeding taxis in NYC and from helicopters transporting friends at swanky weddings to detailed accounts of quirky adventures on cargo ships navigating the planet, it's perhaps easy to forget that Chas is, in fact, a CCTV co-addict, with one significant advantage: whereas my efforts tend to focus on quantity, his shots always seem to simply look better. Oh well.

Adding to the quality of his very diverse array of shots are the witty titles, descriptions, observations and downright insults. These especially shine when an apparent majority of the viewers commenting, myself definitely not excluded, seem oblivious to the irony.

All in all, a flickr member that definitely adds lots of grinning and a lot of amazement to the flickr experience! Keep it up!"

    monkeyking / Peter says:

"When I met Chas he was still using a traditional film camera. We're not talking about the late 1990's either, we're talking about a year ago (okay probably more).

But Chas was soon persuaded to make the switch to digital with his Canon 350D, and to open a Flickr account, and he's now a very prolific photographer. Although I've been taking photos for longer, he's pretty much caught up with me in terms of number of pictures posted, but he's also narrowed the gap in terms of ability and most of his pictures are far better than any of my work. Of course, that's partly because I've been distracted by other, ahem, hobbies!

Chas' photostream is a combination of gallery and China blog so make sure you read his witty titles and comments as well as enjoying the image.

Keep up the good work Chas, and motivating me to work harder on my own stuff."
