One of my biggest joys in life is taking photos of children -- particularly my son Tyler. I love capturing the magic that kids discover in everyday moments -- I just follow them around for a while and eventually they happen on a moment that just has to be preserved forever...

My wife, and our families and friends are very supportive of my tendency to shoot and shoot and shoot -- well, that is, as long as I'm only pointing the lens at the kids and not at them. That suits me just fine, of course, since it's mainly the kids I'm after... Still, if you're holding a child, you are probably considered fair game, and I might not be able to help myself. It's for that reason that I've taken more pictures than I care to admit of my wife's hand stretched out towards the camera...

My current camera setup is a Canon 30D and either a 50mm/1.4 or 85mm/1.8 lens. I'm often drawn to the timeless quality of black & white, and use natural light whenever it's practical (hey, it's beautiful, and cheaper than a speedlight). Someday -- I want to get a really big zoom lens so I can get face to face with a lion: close enough that I could almost feel him breathe -- but far enough away that he doesn't fog up the lens or mangle anything attached to the lens (me, for instance). Someday...

I welcome your comments on my photos -- I really enjoy hearing what people have to say (exclamation points can be especially fun). I also enjoy learning and experimenting if you would like to leave suggestions for improving a photo (not including such things as 'crop out that funny guy -- oh I didn't realize that was you').
