I am well beyond 18 years old :) and while I do not consider my works pornographic, there are various degrees of male nudity and those who may find this offensive should not look at my Photostream. in order to see most of my photos you must have your safety filter turned off. Some of the photos are available only to "friends."
My work using artistic and creative forms of the male nude figure continues to evolve and currently falls into three categories:
1. Male nude replacing Female in Famous Paintings
2. Male nude added to Famous Paintings
3. Fantasy Photos — Created by merging several images
I first started working on the series of Art Parodies (now called Art ReVisions) in 1995, using images gathered from the web and revising them using Photoshop. It started with the realization that while images of the female nude have been ubiquitous in paintings for centuries the male nude has hardly been recognized as a proper subject in serious art. Later I simply started adding male nude images to paintings to create a different aspect to the painting.
I am grateful to some friends on Flickr have encouraged me to drop the word “parody” since it did not reflect the true nature of my work. It is never my intention to make fun of art but to let my revisions bring a new dimension to the original work while recognizing that the two are intimately related.
The series Fantasy Photos takes various web images, as well as some personal ones, and places them in both ordinary and unusual situations to create a fantasy. When they are successful, I think they transcend the realm of pornography and become more playful, more universal, and hopefully more artistic.
