I am alive only because of the grace of God, ask my doctors, they will happily tell you the same.

After being diagnosed with cancer, life suddenly started looking a lot different to me. When I look at pictures I took before cancer, I wince. I was probably the worst "picture taker" in the world. After I recovered from my first round of radiation I picked up a camera and saw an entirely different world. That was 5 years ago, and since I have lived with cancer, er rather, I have cancer, it doesn't have me. I may live with it, but I only gave it a small closet, not even its own room. It didn't deserve one.

I'm still a novice, learning new things every day, but the biggest thing I have learned is that life is a beautiful gift. We don't always see it that way and frankly, we all have days when said "gift" would like to be exchanged for a great pair of shoes instead, but never the less. Its a gift.

Be kind, I'm not a professional and don't profess to be. Just me and my camera, seeing things I overlooked for years. I love looking at other peoples work and being inspired and awed. What a powerful gift. Pictures aren't just photographs, there small pieces of time captured for future generations. Next time you pick up your camera, think, what if this were the last picture I ever take? What would you use it on?
