There's no other place quite like it!
Cedarburg's beautiful setting on the banks of Cedar Creek, its unique collection of 19th century stone buildings and its enticing array of specialty shops and restaurants make it easy to see why this southeastern Wisconsin Community is so often included on lists of must-see Midwestern towns.
A leisurely stroll through Cedarburg's downtown reveals dozens of fascinating specialty shops, charming restaurants, cozy taverns, and inviting century-old inns (just in case you'd like to extend your stay). In fact, a walk down Cedarburg's Washington Avenue is a favorite way for locals to spend an evening - shopping, stopping for coffee or a meal, or just enjoying the small-town ambience.
Many visitors make it a point to come to Cedarburg during one of the city's popular street festivals. Celebrate the cold at Winter Festival in February and get your fill of delicious delicacies at June's Strawberry Festival. In September there's no better way to enjoy autumn than Cedarburg's Wine and Harvest Festival.
And just about everywhere you look in Cedarburg there is art. Many shops and galleries feature local artists and craftspeople, while the Cedarburg Cultural Center and the Cedarburg Performing Arts Center are home to an astonishing number of exhibits and performances -- featuring a mixture of nationally known offerings and the area's best local talent.
Cedarburg's downtown Washington Avenue area is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, with over 100 buildings considered historically significant. The adjacent Columbia Road Historic District is listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places and includes nearly 130 significant structures.
