This letter is in regard to CDM Construction company, Inc. Our basement needed some work. We were going to get three estimates. When Chuck Moore came out, (second estimate) I was so impressed I cancelled the third estimate. First thing I noticed: Instead of “we’ll be there between 10 a.m. and 3 P.M.” it was “I will be there at 2:30.” Is it possible? A contractor who is that precise? Yes, that day and every other day he was blessedly punctual. You could set your clock by him.
His organization is completely professional. His estimates (contracts) are detailed and clear with no ambiguities. Some contractors want half up front. His team asked for a reasonable deposit upon acceptance of the contracts and then we paid as we went along, which kept everyone happy.
His team is neat. They took away all debris (and there was a LOT of it) with no trail of sawdust or gravel or trash left behind.
They are considerate. They never smoked in my house, thank goodness.
They did a ton of little extras without even telling me. [I found them later.] For example, AT&T took down a ceiling tile a few years ago and I could not figure out how to replace it. One day I noticed that it was fixed! Our banister rail was wobbly. One day I noticed that it had been made more secure. That made me very happy.
During the course of the two contracts we had a several “bright ideas” and Chuck Moore was able to arrange new mini-contracts as we went along. (We decided we need insulation in our attic, for one example.) I am convinced that he and his team can do anything.
My favorite aspect of CDM Construction: COMMUNICATION. I could email, text or even call him about anything. Email was the best; he was always prompt to answer. (He can receive emails on his Blackberry.)
Needless to say they do first class work, but lots of companies do first-class work. It’s his punctuality, neatness, consideration for people (by people I include his own employees) and property, communication and ability to “roll with it” that sets Chuck Moore and CDM Construction Company apart. In Feb 2009 CDM finished construction of a 1100 square foot shell which was added on to an existing house. The shell has a basement and a first floor so the footprint of the shell on the ground is 550 square foot. The workmanship delivered was better than specified: the basement walls were made 12 inches thick rather than 8 inches thick as specified in the drawings and were nicely constructed. The basement walls are vertical, the corners are square, the floor is level, the basement walls are grouted solid and reinforced with rebar. CDM did a nice job constructing a new basement and first floor entrance for the addition. We have had several heavy rains since the shell was completed but the basement stays dry. Large window wells constructed by CDM make the basement light and airy. I am delighted with the way CDM constructed the window wells. The first floor has two cathedral ceilings separated by a flat roof. One of the cathedral ceilings has six skylights. The roof does not leak, the floors are level and do not squeak, the walls are vertical. CDM hired a subcontractor who did an excellent job putting up insulated siding (R-5) and gutters with leaf guards. CDM did the work quickly; the CDM workers were courteous and polite. CDM had the lowest price of three companies who bid on the work. There were no cost overruns. I would not hesitate to use CDM again.

If you are reading this, you may be considering using CDM Construction for a home improvement project. As a recent customer I would like to offer my experience and invite you to contact me if you have further question.
This past January 09, my wife and I decided our 30 year ranch house needed a “face lift”. These upgrades involved a new concrete driveway, a Carport, a covered Porch new siding and a new roof.
After settling on the design for the carport and covered porch, I requested several bids. I selected CDM based on price, responsiveness to me during negotiation and proven capabilities. Not having ever undertaken such a large project before I was relieved to have had an enjoyable experience. To say the least we were totally satisfied with the above mentioned efforts and the process that CDM applied to get us there. Frankly CDM converted our old house to a new one that neighbors still continue to compliment us on for the design and quality.
I believe our successful experience is attributed to CDM’s business practice at all levels; Chuck and Fidel were always available and always communicating with me, and the team of construction technicians all had overall pride in their workmanship. Just an example that I had involved members of the concrete team staying at my house until after 11PM one night to insure the driveway was properly finished before it set up. Additionally the crews always showed respect for our property and cleaned up each night.
Chuck and Fidel’s accessibility by phone or email allowed me to maintain coordination get updates real time and made me feel truly part of the “team”. Finally CDM’s payment plan of invoicing you on pre-planned accomplishments offered us a level of control throughout the entire project.
