I am as interested in words as in images and accordingly tend to take a very 'writerly' perspective to photography, seeing a photograph as a single moment with a larger narrative. My favourite photographers include Eugene Atget, Frank Meadows Sutcliffe, Benjamin Brecknell Turner, Josef Sudek, Karel Brassai, Plicka and Simon Marsden, the drawings of Escher, Dore, Meryon and Piranesi, the paintings of David Friedrich and Atkinson Grimshaw or the cinematography of films like Metropolis and The Third Man.

There's constant delight in new discoveries, drifting through his photostream is rather like browsing through a pictorial encyclopedia. Some of his London pictures are among the best on their subject in my opinion, they are also backed up by interesting footnotes and comments. I'm always excited to see where he'll take us next."
