Welcome! This is a photographic guide to the living species of the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco California. This site is has been developed by docents at the Academy for docent educational use. It concentrates on the Steinhart Aquarium and is primarily organized by creature families and habitats. The Rainforest section is an exception being organized by rainforest exhibits. Information on photos is primarily obtained from the Docent Field Guide to The Species of The Steinhart Aquarium edited by Sandy Linder. The flickr photographs were exclusively taken at the California Academy of Sciences by Ron DeCloux. Exhibits constantly change so future fish may or may not be identical to those in the photo list or described in the field guide. Fish species have many color variations but those seen here should be very close or identical to those seen in the new Steinhart Aquarium. Changes are ongoing. RJD 10/22/09
