I am a Latino scholar, anthropologist, and university professor. I am a University Professor in San Francisco. I teach courses on Latino culture and history. I have specialized in Central American Migrations and Religion/Spirituality in Latin America. My research interests take me to distant places in Latin America to research and study the religious traditions of the various populations in the region. I often travel to Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America. I am bilingual and bicultural, and open to the various cultural experiences of the world. During the past nine years I have been placing emphasis in the study and research of the AfroCaribbean religions in Cuba, Puerto Rico and their practices in California. I enjoy traveling and meeting people from different walks of life. I enjoy music of all types but specially jazz, latin, R&B, and most of all romantic music. As a child of Yemaya, I enjoy the ocean and love to walk by the beach during a full moon to re-energize the spirit. I enjoy outdoor life but I am also an urban creature and enjoy the best that life can give us in the Bay Area- the life in the cafes, clubs, galleries and museums, as well as the hidden secrets of our many communities.

I have been taking photographs since I was 12 years old when my older brother gave me a kodak brownie camera. I enjoy taking portraits and odd shots in the streets. As an anthropologist, the camera has become one of my most important field tools as I attempt to document society, culture and art as I see them through the lens.
