Hi, my name is Cara...
(here's where you all say, "Hi, Cara!")
...and I'm a flickrholic. I hate to say it, and I am trying to resist it, but its an incredible place to kill time. Flickr is quenching my thirst to learn, and my hunger for quality photography. There is such a sense of community here and that is what makes it better than the other photography websites I've used in the past. I feel so refreshed every time I view the work of and/or contact the inspiring and unique photographers that are here. I think this quote sums up Flickr, "I think a photography class should be a requirement in all educational programs because it makes you see the world rather than just look at it." ~Author Unknown


I'm mostly self-taught, but I must also credit my genes as my grandfather is a photographer and my mother an artist in her own right. Really, any inkling of talent I may claim is due to curiosity, persistence, appreciation for a challenge, and a teensy bit of OCD! I see the world in photos; everywhere I look I'm composing the shot...it can drive a person crazy, and I'm sure drives those close to me crazy!

In addition to be addicted to photography, there's also music. Please talk to me if you are a Railroad Earth/From Good Homes fan, love bluegrass; Jimi Hendrix, the Black Crowes, Damien Rice, and the Swell Season also keep my heart beating.

flickr rant: does anyone else feel as though there should be rules that when you quote song lyrics in your photo title or description you should use quotation marks and/or give credit to the songwriter? what if you want to go listen to the song with such beautiful lyrics? also, some unknowing viewers may be led to believe that the photographer came up with the lovely words under the photo, when in fact they have not. that's all.
