We are the last of this line in our Friesian tribe. There are but a few of us left. My people settled here in 1632 and I am the last man in our patrilineage. As we come to the end of our fourth century in this new world I endeavor to tell the story of our experience. And I need your help.

In the last forty years of my family's quadricentennial in the new world, one tenth of our explorations here, I find we have crossed into yet another new world - that of the cyberspace. The first decade of this last segment of our passage, in the digital realm, is now past. Three are left to go as I enter, uncertainly, into the last phase of my own existence and that of my family. Can you help me tell the story?

Like the diaries of Lewis and Clark, I am keeping journals which record the observations of what I see in my daily journeys. These are increasingly moving online. These travel log now includes coverage of the daily digital river of imagery I am exposed to, much like the scenaery beside the river of Lewis & Clark's canoes. Lewis Clark's endeavor was daunting, it required courage, in the face of unknown lands and unanticipated challenges. Yet, they sought assistance with local peoples and made friends along the way. In the same fashion, I ask for your assistance in helping me navigate through your area within the Flickr-space. Give an old man courage in the face of this new unknown world. Take me by the hand, help me discover your lands. Show me the beautiful spots you inhabit, and become part of, and intrinsic to, this story of ours.

From a practical standpoint, while I do make some entries of photos, this site is primarily for curating and publishing online exhibits using the Gallery feature in Flickr - calling attention to other people's photos. Their lands in the Flickr-space.

As a small offering I hope to offer you some interesting perspectives on using this very new media in the service of a very ancient art - that of story telling.

How does the user of a Flickr Gallery combine traditional roles from various fields including that of Art Critic of journalism, Acquisitions Editor of publishing, Curator of Museums, Producer of film, director of plays, and the social networking of an author's agent (or a Yentil matchmaker) in a new model of a digital impressario in the spirit of Sergei Diaghilev?

I can help you answer that question.
Can you guide me through your world?
