9 April 2008 - A landmark day - 50,000 Views!

29 March, 2008. At last, I have retired - More time to spend on Flickr and doing the things I enjoy.

I have no great pretensions as a photographer, and no specialities. I just love taking and viewing 'photos.

I am delighted that in the twelve months since I created the Portrait Classics Group, over 2,750 people have joined, and the Group contains more than 6,000 pictures. Many of these are among the greatest portraits on Flickr by highly talented photographers. Just browse through the Group and enjoy a wealth of spectacular images on every page. And as members can only have three images on the Group at any time, the content is constantly changing, with newly-taken pictures replacing those that were posted some time ago. This limitation also ensures that the size of the Group does not get out of hand with only the most recent postings being viewed. I hope that members and those viewing the Group like this concept.

The newest feature - the weekly themed competition - has proved to be a great success. Competitions open and fill up with entries almost before I have time to set in place the scoring machanism. And the winning entries that are invited to join the sister Group - THE PORTRAIT CLASSICS HALL OF FAME - are a real feast of portrait photography that grows in quality and stature as each week passes.
