About me

In early summer 2006, a friend photographer let me shoot with his back-up camera, a Nikon D100, for a serie of outdoor concerts. It was an instant Wow! this is it! How soon can I get my own DLSR!. A few weeks later, it was my own. Since then, it follows me everywhere all the time. I have everything to learn, sure. I shoot for the pleasure of getting back in touch with my creativity.

An avid Flickr-photographer convinced me to try a free account. What a big step! Although I have accumulated several thousands shots on my HD, my shy and withdrawn nature had to be convinced they are worth uploading. Oh well, I try to discipline myself to add a few photos weekly, although I shoot dozens daily.

Why do I now have a Pro account? Because what I found here was an extraordinary positive community of friendly people, either beginners like me, damn good shooters from whom I can learn, or absolute artists that are a source of inspiration, pushing me to go further, to keep learning, and to keep shooting.

Important notice about my images

All these images are copyrighted and, should you wish to use them in any way, please contact me. If you favor my photos and have no pics of your own, or even a comment to offer, I will get in touch, we'll have a talk, and if you're not some shy person, but a photo thief, I will block you. This is a sharing experience--right? So--sorry this is a general rule of mine. Thanks for the consideration.

"This is one fantastic person, with a great eye and an energetic out look of life. She will make the best with what she has and is happy to share her stories and photographs with you. I count myself lucky to have met her and look forward to seeing her new work as it becomes available.

    Happy shooting, your friend,

"Ginette's pictures capture the raw emotion of a moment. Her work is pure, with no post-production enhancements to make a scene more vivid than it is, or needs to be. I love how she documents the "how" behind her photographs, and how a lot of her work connects with those the majority of us ignore. It's great stuff, and I can't wait to see what's next."

"I really like how these shots encourage discovering the humanity of people who we may be fearful of and therefore tempted to ignore."

    InTheLight Photography says:

"I "stumbled" upon "byGin"s photos and found myself carefully and deliberately looking and studying every photo she has posted. I got a sense of what I think her heart is in photography. Look at the street scenes and read her notes. She has compassion for people and a desire to document what others may see as mundane. Don't pass up the street artist. Don't miss the simplistic view of "ordinary" scenery around you. However if you do - come and look at byGin's photos. You'll be reminded that we are all together in this world.

byGin posesses the journalistic style of photography many of us hope to have. I have found a new mentor!
