I guess I should introduce myself....

Hi, my name's Mike and I'm addicted to Flickr.

I'm a retired guy who lives in the county of Bedfordshire in the south of England. I've had a lifelong interest in photography since I owned my first camera in my early teens, but it's a hobby that's had periods of neglect (mainly while I was working) where I took plenty of pictures but didn't really develop my skills as a photographer. In the last few years I've been liberated by retirement and have been able to devote a lot more time to my hobbies, the first of which is photography..

I love taking pictures, but since joining Flickr I've discovered that I have so much to learn! Compared to most people here, I'm just a 'happy snapper' who's lucky enough now and again to manage a half-decent photograph.

Until recently I've left it all to the camera and have never processed images on my PC. At the moment I'm trying to get to grips with a couple of Linux image-processing applications. That may take some time..... ;-)

The "trying Linux image processing apps" was just too hard... I gave in and recently bought a copy of Photoshop CS4. I like an easy life... :-)

If you feel like commenting on any of my pictures, please feel free to be totally honest and tell me how I could improve them. Apart, that is, from recommending that I find an alternative hobby! Carefully considered criticism is healthy - and I promise I won't be offended! It's the only way I'll learn.
