What is with all the foot pictures?

Last Fall I was looking through an old photo album and found a picture I took of my feet at the beach when I was eleven. I realized then that on almost every trip I've taken, if I had a camera in my hand, at some point I would point it at the ground and get a picture of my feet wherever I was. I wondered what would happen if I did that every day for a year, what story it would tell. Foot of the Day was born.

I think feet are cool, a structurally interesting and unique part of the body, full of information about the person they carry around this world. It's the part of us that touches the earth, and that is beautiful. Not always sexy, but sometimes, yes. I also think mine are one (or two, really) of my best features. I didn't realize I had nice looking feet until fairly recently, and, well, that is way too long a story for Flickr.

Also, shoes: a longstanding obsession, if you'll pardon the pun. I love shoes, especially sandals.

I'm glad people enjoy the pictures. I like taking them. Comments and adoration are wonderful, but please keep it clean, okay? I don't want to have to block anyone, but I will.
