I like words, juicy black berries, flip flops, white leather jackets and 3 peso rodeos. I think heirloom tomatoes are beautiful. I live on the west coast of Canada and I'm married to a guy I lured here from New York. He's a chef too.

I dig the photos y'all take. Many thanks to those who have favorited my snapshots and also to those who've left wonderful encouraging comments.

"You know you totally rock the macro lens, right? Along with most other lenses, great or small? It's a sheer pleasure to look at your images -- don't ever stop posting 'em."

"the thing about burnt sugar - one could easily write something like "Master of the Macro" and leave it at that.

But it wouldn't really tell the whole story.

While it's true that there are just loads and loads of beautifully composed examples of life up close in burnt sugar's stream, there is also so much more - street life, home life, portraits, vibrant colors, amazing and light, all conveyed with a sense of visual economy. And while i may post 20 photos while struggling to convey something about a certain object or person, burnt sugar is able to demonstrate with one or two images that less is more..."

"her camera is a talking stone. her pictures are not only visual, they draw you to listen to strings of narrative, beautiful stories, even you start to reminisce."

    "hate flattering. this is serious.

    two premières:
    a. first testimonial i ever felt was necessary to write.
    b. burnt sugar's is the first fotostream i had the patience to view as a whole. a screen page turner. rewarding, worth the times it takes.

    soothing for the eyes.
    variation.
    expect the unexpected.
    b&w used with consideration.
    moderation.

    c. every day this world is becoming increasingly stuffed with guys with 10+ Mpix 1 GB storage digis crammed with gizmos they never know how to apply. german proverb applies: pearls thrown to the boars.

you don't need a digi. stick to your granddad's. it's not the camera that makes the nice pictures.
    it's YOU.
    You.
    you.

    d. always you."
