I am a Santa Barbara photographer specializing in night photography and location portraits. The southern California area is an excellent place for both - great views and beautiful people. There's something special about night photography. I love being out in the silver light of the moon and having an entire coastline all to myself.
Oh, and I don't use HDR. Ever.
Most of my images are available as prints and many may be licensed for publication. I am available to do location portraits, product shots and editorial work in the Santa Barbara area. Contact me for rates and information.

Sharper24 says:
"Simce the first day I joined flickr, I have followed your own work. Because you and I see things in the Night similarly, I can relate to your images readily. They look real and unmanipulated. The skies are Night Sky Blue. Your foregrounds are natural color and in your case, beautifully defined with fill lighting. Most importantly, you see visions of relevance and compose them gracefully, and you do not impose yourself except when you are experimenting with the effects of light with an artistic concept and outcome.
In other words, you are not changing the reality of Nature, which in this age of digital manipulations and global warming, has become a great concern of mine, and perhaps a serious issue, as Nature is pretty much the only reality upon which we must gauge all things.
I would recommend your beautiful site to all and particularly those who are interestied in learning and studying Night Photography

"Well deserved thoughts and most importanly
feelings, for you Toby.
I have followed you over the last year and the hat
keeps coming off again and again. You have shown
a continuity of skill and willingness both in your projects
and in shareing your knowledge with the likes of me and others.
We have followed you on your trips to your beach and have been
charged with inspiration in seeing your work.
I have found myself ask that question "how" many times and
you always find that answer.
Your work has touched, we just supply the emotions!
Thanks from the heart for that my freind. Wish you a great year.

"Not only do Toby's pictures absolutely blow me away, but he's an incredibly nice guy, too! I can't pin down the one "best shot" out of all the amazing shots he's posted. I can truly say his pictures have become quite inspiring to me, and I strive to one day be posting shots as great as these myself. Thanks, Toby!"

"What can I say? Toby's work with night photography surely displays the beauty of the California coastline. Not only does he speak through his photos but shows it through his generousity to his fellow photographers, astounding! Out of the blue (pun intended) he sent me his dad's Pentax SP1000. I hope I can make the trip worth it's while through the lens."
